What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate Marketing is a hot topic these days. The world is re-opening from the Covid-19 Pandemic and most people are now having trouble reconnecting in a human way. If you can't connect with people, then how are you supposed to get jobs? Connections make it easier to get into positions and referrals to jobs that otherwise would have been out of reach for an individual with no name. This is a resource that is quickly being snuffed out with the advancement of technology and the current social expectations.
So, what do you do about it?
That's probably where you, and many others perhaps, heard about affiliate marketing and entrepreneurship. The best way I can explain affiliate marketing is that it is a form of entrepreneurship that doesn't require you to create your own product.
Let's take a step back for a moment and talk about entrepreneurship. The consensus online is that entrepreneurship is something like a side-hustle that could eventually become someone's main source of income. I think that is true. Like anything, it takes a bit to build skills the correct way, use them in a certain manner, and nurture the person who will grasp your future in their hands (Hint hint, that's you).
However, that collective understanding is entrepreneurship in action. What entrepreneurship is, in all its states- passive and active- is problem solving. It's the reason I describe affiliate marketing as a form of entrepreneurship: it connects a potential customer to a product or service that will solve their problems. It is another way to help people solve their problems.
Is this a new way to market products now? How big is this industry today and what are some examples of affiliate businesses?
Uber, Lift, Door-dash, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, and many, many more are examples of affiliate businesses. Affiliate marketing, and businesses when scaled up, is hidden in plain sight. Why? Think about it: do they sell you a product or service directly or do they connect you to another company or person who will give you the product or service? The average consumer who isn't taught the difference between affiliate businesses and other more direct businesses will determine that all companies are the same. They just sell you products and services that could help a customer or something. If you're attentive, you will realize these well-known companies don't own any assets of their own; they connect a potential customer to another company or someone else who ALREADY has a product that can help solve their problems and earn a commission.
On the smallest scale, you even argue that recommending a product to friends or family is affiliate marketing (you're just not earning commissions). Jokes aside, it is an important distinction that you get paid when you refer someone to a product or service. That's what makes it a business.
How and Where Do You Start?
How and Where Do You Start?
There are plenty of education course out there that will tell you to hone your skills, promote this or that product, and buy this or that book and gather knowledge. Unfortunately, this sort of "affiliate marketing" has been going on for too long and now the market is saturated with "gurus" and "coaches." All the knowledge in the world is never going to give you the experience you need to breakthrough. For example: knowing you should only eat 5 French Fries to stay healthy is not going to convince you to eat only 5 French Fries. Telling a smoker to stop smoking because it will only lead to bad health outcomes won't stop them from smoking. No amount of knowledge about picking the right products to promote, advertising yourself on social media to grow an organic audience which can be converted to leads, and information about maximizing ROAS and ROI will get you to achieve those very things: it's just ideas that haven't been realized yet.
Money CAN be a sensitive topic among those who are starting. I was there, too, because I didn't buy the phrase: you need to spend money to make money. Sounded pretentious to me, honestly. Especially when you are starting, you want to minimize the amount you spend and maximize earnings. Money is a limited resource to the beginner, and that needs to be acknowledged when recommending how someone starts.
However, one idea can make you successful. And it could make you a failure. I want to share with you something very simple that will blow your mind: Money follows money. Success follows success. Failure follows Failure. Think about it: when you succeed in graduation from high school, you can leverage that success to access higher education like universities and colleges. When you have a track record of successes that you can point to, more people will see that you are successful and will want to collaborate with you.
You here the phrase: "You get what you pay." Let's be honest. It is only human to want to take the easy way out. I find myself having those thoughts and urges, too. But you know what? Doing business the easy way will make your life hard; and doing business the hard way will make your life easy. Why?
Think about it: when you follow the herd to the next big event, product, or service, you have more competition. With even just a little insight, this becomes even more daunting for a beginner because they don't even know how to navigate the world of businesses and marketing.
So remember, on your journey to success, pay the price. Whether that be time or money, it will always be rewarded. Why? Because money follows money. Success follows success. It's not about doing certain things. It's about doing things in a certain way.
If you were to ask me how to start, I'd 100% recommend the hottest offer taking the world by storm: Affiliate Business System. Or abbreviated as ABS for short.
